For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.  2 Timothy 4:3-4

Desire to know and understand needs no apology
big eyes look to mystic things and itching ears keep searching
by reading stars with charts and codes and numerology
potent snakes await by night to snare the one whose lurching.

Disguised as blazing angels, they will keep you seeing red
hypnotizing venom sucks the life out of tomorrow,
eclipsed by outer darkness valid questions go unsaid.

Ambushed soul becomes entrenched in discontent and sorrow
so deep into deception now the serpent makes your bed
who are you but one poor soul now hidden in the shadow?

The search for Truth will satisfy your curiosity
peace and grace for restless minds; the dragon He will trample,
abide in God, be strong in Christ, the devil he must flee,
step among the Light of Hope whose Love is always ample.

A Reasoned Faith

It is possible to find peace serene
Where mind and soul merge in lucid delight.
Why do some view Truth as a blinding light
And harden their hearts to a faith unseen?

Suffocated by the day’s rhetoric,
A proud man has no need for God’s embrace.
Unwilling to breath in God’s saving grace
Or be smothered in God’s love euphoric.

Exemption from obligation is sought,
When the soul’s insight is clouded by sin.
All but choking faith and reason within
Asphyxiated by postmodern thought.

Seeking wisdom cannot be set aside,
Still more is found when faith is not denied.

“This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure. But anyone working and living in truth and reality welcomes God-light so the work can be seen for the God-work it is.” John 3:19-21 (The Message)

Wisdom’s Voyage

So how can it be that sometimes no means yes?
My weak eyes have grown accustomed to the dark,
And refuse to see the flood while in the arc.
Yet, in God’s wisdom, I trust that He knows best.
His plans are purposeful, not some random guess.
But nonetheless, I quite often miss the mark,
And question His invitation to embark.
Still knowing the Lord loves to love and to bless.

Will my heart change and welcome His brand-new day?
I pray for strength to lift my eyes and see Light.
Yes, the Son still shines though the skies appear grey;
Piercing cloaks of darkness with power and might.
God’s love and mercy are just one prayer away,
Stand firm! This is no time to give up the fight.

Who can measure the wealth and wisdom and knowledge of God? Who can understand his decisions or explain what he does? “Has anyone known the thoughts of the Lord or given him advice? Has anyone loaned something to the Lord that must be repaid?” Romans 11:33-35

Desert Bloom

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and You will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:29

Sweet fragrance of His knowledge
Timeless beauty In His grace
Soothing is His loyal pledge
Precious is His dwelling place.

By His mercy, we are blessed
In this eternal moment
Under shade tree, give us rest
May we ever be content.

A taste of endless freedom
Among His fold, find His peace
Refreshing is His wisdom
Living waters never cease.

Rose of Sharon, blooming bright
With pure heart, in Christ delight.

All my stroll His open field
Sauntering the valley floor
In His orchards we are healed
Radiating evermore.

Shrubs to prune and seeds to sow
Flourishing among true light
Living where wildflowers grow
In our prayer He finds delight.

Doves sing praise and buds appear
New life sprouts from certain death
Sights and sounds of spring so near
Giving thanks with every breath.

Rose of Sharon, blooming bright
With pure heart, in Christ delight.

From thistle to spotless rose
Bitter winters of the past
Thriving in tranquil repose
The cold rain is gone at last.

Entangled among the thorn
Vibrant petals intertwine
Not afraid of those who scorn
As true branches of the vine.

Gorgeous is the faithful bride
When love is in full bloom
Floral plains so lush and wide
Devoted to the bridegroom.

Rose of Sharon, blooming bright
With pure heart, in Christ delight.

The perfect bride absolute
Sweet desert bloom, brightly shine
Pure white lily bearing fruit
Reflect His glory divine.

Body of Christ purified
Ever green, with roots so deep
With a crown of thorns Christ died
Firm salvation ours to keep.

Showing us the greatest love
The ultimate sacrifice
Unceasing grace from above
Through our savior, Jesus Christ.

Rose of Sharon, blooming bright
With pure heart, in Christ delight.

This poem was originally posted back in January; however I have revised the poem by turning it into four English Sonnets. This is a poem dedicated to the Bride of Christ, His Church.  In my study of the Song of Solomon, I have come to believe that the “Rose of Sharon” is referring to the Bride of Christ although I realize not everyone agrees with this interpretation.  Nevertheless, I believe Jesus is waiting for His Bride with open arms.  In Him alone is found the perfect peace, love, grace and rest that we so desperately need. Seek Him.  He is waiting for you with open arms.

Go In Peace

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:1

Raining tears of godly sorrow at the start,
Like an alabaster box poured out in praise,
Founts of repentance spring from her sinning heart.

Her silent pledge to reverse from Evil’s ways,
Is fragrance rising up to God’s mercy seat,
Such sweet aroma flares from her soul ablaze.

She casts all her sins and burdens at Christ’s feet,
Longing to be rescued from Destruction’s pit,
To stand upon the Rock with all joy replete.

God’s touch alone will gratify her spirit,
No longer tormented like the restless sea,
With nothing, save her very life, to commit.

Without condemnation, He answers her plea:
“Beloved, go in peace, thy faith has saved thee.”

His Perfect Grace

And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
John 8:32

Lord, how am I justified in Your sight?
How do I know that my soul can be free?
Father God, do You hear my desperate plea?
What is it, Lord, that can make me right?

Only Jesus Christ gives eternal life!
The gift, God’s grace, is simple to receive.
Have faith in Christ, the Son of God – believe!
In the riches of His glory – delight!

My Savior, I’m cleansed by the life You gave.
Raised again for our justification.
Set free by the Truth, You’ve filled up my heart.
My Deliverer, God’s wrath has been waived.
Longing for divine sanctification.
Not even satan can tear us apart.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

Why do we act so foolish and unwise?
No secrets from you can we ever hide.
Should You not be our one and only guide?
Your handiwork is proclaimed in the skies!

Your love is better than some worldly prize!
In You we seek to faithfully abide.
Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord will provide.
Blessed and highly favored in His eyes.

The one who trusts will not be put to shame.
Surround us with Your favor as a shield.
Upon the cross is where You placed the blame.
The glory of the Lord will be revealed.

It’s in surrender we find victory.
A vow fulfilled for us at Calvary.

2 Corinthians 5:12 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin,  so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (NLT)
