Marks of Love

See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.   Isaiah 49:16a

Our names inscribed on His pierced hands,
Christ died to make a way.
His precious blood our only plea,
Tomorrow and today.

His marks of passion show His love,
With proof from history.
Our living God, today He reins,
Not just a memory.

It is finished, our debts are paid,
let go of sin He bore.
Come see the place where our Lord lay,
He’s risen evermore!

There is no life except in Christ,
a new and living way.
To put our thoughts on things above,
we honor Him today.

The blood of Jesus washed us clean,
and made us white as snow.
Eternal life with God above –
What price?  We’ll never know.

Awaiting all who come to Him,
and turn away from sin,
This revolution for the soul,
renews us from within.

Raised to glory, our Savior lives
and heaven’s song resounds.
No greater love than at the cross,
where His rich grace abounds.

Merciful High Priest

My friends, God has chosen you to be his holy people. So think about Jesus, the one we call our apostle and high priest.
Hebrews 3:1 (CEV)

By Your death we are delivered
From bondage into light,
Holding fast to our confession,
We walk by faith not sight.

Exalted above the heavens,
Dear merciful High Priest,
Our sins You have removed from us,
In You, we keep the feast.

Sympathetic to our weakness,
You hear our every cry,
Ever living to intercede,
Your love’s in great supply.

Man of sorrows, You share our grief,
And with us You do weep.
Our living advocate on high,
Awaken us from sleep.

Sitting in eternal glory,
Your perfect work is done.
You turned away God’s wrath from us,
O, Holy, Blameless One.

To fix our thoughts on You, O Lord,
There is no greater thing.
Set free from sin by Your own blood,
It’s to Your cross we cling.

Hebrew 4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

1 Corinthians 5:7-9 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Holy Spirit

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26)

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Oh blessed trinity
One living God divinely three
King for eternity

You make of me Your dwelling place
You guide me in all truth
Anoint my life for serving You
Erase my sins of youth

Pour into me and fill me up
Your love I can’t deny
You search me through and know my thoughts
Of Christ You testify

You teach me how to yield each day
And make the holy choice
My breath of life, flow through me now
You are my still small voice

You know me more than I myself
And lead me by the hand
You counsel me in ways of life
To help me understand

Bestowing me with gifts unearned
Defending me from sin
Like mighty wind, expose my guilt
Restore me from within

My praise for You will never cease
Be my one desire
I’m sealed until redemption day
Warmed by holy fire

You claim me as a child of God
Always there to witness
You comfort me and ease the pain
Healed by Your holy kiss

Renewing as the latter rain
Your love is so immense
Regenerating hearts for Christ
With fruitful evidence

The stamp of Your eternal pledge
Proves purchase at a price
Your gift of grace is free for all
By faith in Jesus Christ

John 14:17 The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.

John 15:26 I will send you the Spirit who comes from the Father and shows what is true. The Spirit will help you and will tell you about me.

John 16:13-14 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.

Ephesians 1:13 Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God.

Hosea 6:3 Let’s do our best to know the LORD.  His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime.

God’s Gift

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

For it’s by grace through faith we’re saved
And not of works our own
In You and You alone we boast
To make Your Glory known

There is a void in all our hearts
That only God fulfills
And for this cause we so delight
To only do Thy will

There’s nothing we can do to earn
The favor of Your grace
We have no grounds on which to stand
Yet sins You do erase

Your love is ever powerful
The Spirit intercedes
You want to bring Your lost ones home
You know our every need

Salvation comes through faith by grace
Redemption from above
God’s gift of grace is all we need
Through Christ’s unending love

Psalm 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning

The Shepherd’s Grace

Have you ever pondered what the Lord means when he says “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”? I am so comforted by those words from our Lord and yet sometimes it is hard to fully grasp this promise from God.  Grace is defined as unmerited favor, an unearned blessing, a love undeserved that never quits.  Grace is a state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God.  Isn’t it a divinely beautiful thought that He gives us just as much of His grace as is needed to see us through our weakness?  He is our daily bread just as He provided the right amount of bread (manna) for the Israelites to eat in the desert for 40 years. His Grace will get us through any trouble or danger and it will never deplete! God has an unending supply of grace! At the very moment we are failing and defective….flawed and broken as we are in this human condition…..His full strength and mighty power enables us to survive the trials and temptations of life when we put our faith in Him. I just want to praise God right now for the great and Chief Shepherd we have in Jesus Christ, our Jehovah-raah.

On bended knee, we call Your name
In brokenness we plead
With just the right amount of grace
You help in time of need

Good will You have in store for us
Sweet favor undeserved
Not less, not more but just enough
So faithfully reserved

It’s when we see our need for help
You make Your power known
A privilege granted to Your flock
With access to Your throne

You are the very source of life
Good Shepherd of the soul
Still waters found, calm and serene
Your mercy makes us whole

Freed under Your authority
Great losses turned to gain
Your promises cannot be stopped
In everything You reign

Our fears are tamed, all doubts removed
We speak to You through prayer
Your love for us will never die
Our lives are in Your care

And through our weakness You are strong
Your perfect strength revealed
As we hold tight with feeble hand
Your grip on us is sealed

We shall not want, our needs are met
You call Your sheep by name
Green pastures found, rest for the soul
In us You’ve staked a claim

You may not take away our thorns
But You will sanctify
And even in the midst of pain
Your love’s in great supply

From transgression You protect us
Death lost it’s fatal sting
Security found through Your doors
Chief Shepherd, Savior, King

You love us so, You gave Your life
A gift to us unearned
By faith we build upon The Rock
All other works are burned

You willingly laid down Your life
And took it up again
To save Your sheep and keep us from
The hungry wolf of sin

As faith shines bright, the thief sets out
To search for unlocked doors
Seeking to devour the lost
That prowling lion roars

You free us from the devil’s snare
We hear our Shepherd’s voice
Casting our burdens upon You
The justified rejoice

Our risen Christ, we love you so
You’re eager to provide
Without You we can do no good
Redeemer, Trusted Guide

Faith comes by grace, of this be sure
All blessings glorious
Because of Your sustaining grace
We stand victorious!
