Exalt the Lord

“The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock!  May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!”  2 Samuel 22:47

I have been called to exalt Jesus
not angels, bibles
or the canon of saints
not charismatic teachers,
or the one who preaches
I have been called to exalt Jesus
not denominations, doctrines
or theology masters
not statues of Mary
or the gal who teaches
I have been called to exalt Jesus
not sacred buildings, icons
or church traditions
not cool pastors
or fancy speeches
Just Jesus!
I have been called to exalt Jesus.

Stand Firm

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:12-16

Still standing,
Still standing strong.
Though the enemy will shake us,
He cannot silence our song.
Still standing,
Still standing strong.
The storms still come,
the seas are rough,
Keep holding course,
it won’t be long.
Still standing,
Still standing strong.
And
when all is said and done
Stand.

All Things True

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. John 12:46

To fall, with all abandon,
into Your loving arms,
this is the true test of faith.

In the midst of Your presence, I discovered
complete emptiness without You.
Until I saw Your Light,
I couldn’t begin to comprehend
the darkness of my world.
Living in a prison with unlocked doors,
it was there I experienced real freedom.
Finally recognizing the stench
of my own sin, all but consumed
by the sweet aroma
of Your unceasing prayers for me.
Only aware of my blindness
after catching Your vision,
I was deaf until You spoke clearly
into my soul.

To feel Your love is to know
the source of all things true.

Shine Forth

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. Isaiah 60:1

Our world is wrapped
in woeful night, a
depressing shade of death
aching for the morning sun.

Many sleeping souls
stagger
in the darkness of
deep longing for the Divine, blind
to the Light that
permeates the
four corners of the universe.

Eclipsed
by lack of faith, unaware
that the shroud of
twilight is no match
for the blazing radiance of
God’s presence.

Truth more convincing than
the black and white pages
of a theologian’s
commentary or
the heart rending
ruminations of a wise poet.

The doubter’s shadow is
my substance, the
unbeliever’s myth
is my manifestation.
The warm ambience of
God’s resplendent glory
is consuming the night.

Content to linger in Him,
intently listening to
His silence,
like reading a book with
no words. Yes,
He is altogether lovely.

Arise, open your eyes
for His Light has come.

No Song Without Him

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4 (NASB)

Over a pounding pulse,
I hear the enemy
accusing me of being a fake,
of not living up to my Christian faith
condemning me with past wounds.
The words linger in my ears and on my soul
striking a chord with the ugly face of my old self,
echoing in a pit of noises.
Shame’s tempo chimes in
clanging to a new crescendo.
The clashing of
flesh
and Spirit.

In the midst of chaos, a still small voice
resonates a tone all its own.
God brings to remembrance
His unending love for me,
a sinner.
He knows I am His
although
I sometimes forget.
His mercy brings me to my knees
in repentance
and His sweet grace
washes me clean.
He is as faithful as always.

The great conductor of my life’s melody
calls me to focus
and in harmony
leads me in a new song,
with notes
already written
on my heart.

Precious Even In Death

The LORD cares deeply when his loved ones die. (Psalm 116:15)

O merciful God, so full of mercy,
Comfort is found in remembering Your love!

So precious in Your sight,
The departed are now held peacefully in Your arms.
After a long, full life and a fierce battle till the end,
This one has now seen Jesus face to face!
Delivered from the burden of the flesh…
Once and for all.

O merciful God, so full of mercy,
Comfort is found in remembering Your love!

Taken too soon, or so it seems
yet we know God’s timing is perfect.
We long for the one who was always there,
this loving, non-judgmental soul,
who was always there.
Living the life of a free spirit,
a fun-loving soul, a peacemaker.
A spirit who is truly now free.

O merciful God, so full of mercy,
Comfort is found in remembering Your love!

Lord God, you bless the dying and sooth the suffering;
Somehow, we are dear to You, even in death.
I continue to be amazed by Your Love and Mercy,
Even in death.

Our Blessed Hope

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19

Sweet songbird of dawn and dusk,
your cheery tune is like a grateful heart
that won’t be silenced.

Rejoicing effortlessly
with a distinct and festive hymn,
whistling a morning melody,
beckoning the rising sun,
in the comfort of a shade tree.

Fair nightingale,
singing your evening lullaby,
inviting the starry night,
with such a sense of purpose
and love’s perfect timing.

Just as the soulful songbirds
announce the return of Spring,
let our hearts sing to the Lord!

Making psalms with our lives,
ever joyous and thankful,
exuding a never-ending praise
for our Blessed Hope.

While we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:13-14
