Eternal Love

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)

Of all the worldly things I do explore
Who on earth will fill my heart’s desire?
Why does my hallow heart stay trapped in mire?
Is unfailing love a desperate lore?

By faith I step into your open door
To gaze upon your face I do aspire
Your love for me burns like a blazing fire!
Beloved, could you love me any more?

Your perfect finished work I dare not gild
You give your life for me and I the same
Lover of my soul by you I’m healed
My heart’s on fire in your mighty flame
Abounding in your love my soul is sealed
Your promise of eternal love, I claim!

Ponder These Words:

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

This poem is written in the form of an Old English Sonnet.

  1. The perfect finished work that Jesus purchased us with his own blood and we are saved through faith alone. Thanks for another incredible reflection
Have a blessed day and weekend.

  2. God’s love is truly wonderful and should be the subject of sermons, songs and great poems, such as this one. Thank you for sharing.

How wonderful it is to know that God loves us with “an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3)!
