Babe of Bethlehem

Isn’t it amazing that there are so many different names and descriptions of Jesus in the bible?  I was inspired to write this poem after searching through the bible for the various names of Jesus. God Bless You today and always!

Oh sweet Babe of Bethlehem, majestic yet mild

Born to be our savior, the anointed servant child

From the city of David was born the King of Kings

A helpless newborn, protected under angels wings

The Word was made flesh to fulfill the ultimate plan

Our one and only merciful God became the Son of Man

His birth fulfilled a covenant, promised long ago

Though we are unworthy, tender mercies You bestow

The Lamb of God and firstborn of all creation

Immanuel, for us You are the promise of salvation

God in human form, the only Alpha and Omega

A bright morning star, You are the promised Messiah

To live among Your people, You left Your shining city

You reign in heaven and on earth, our only deity

You brought Your brilliant light to a darkened earth

The Wisdom and Power of God, delivered in Christ’s birth

There are no limits to the wholeness You bring

For Your glory, the heavenly army of angels sing

For unto us a child was born, our perfect Prince of Peace

Sent to save the world, Your love for us will never cease

Oh sweet Babe of Bethlehem, so innocent and pure

Born to be our savior, of that we can be sure

Scripture Meditation

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelations 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

1 Corinthians 1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
